The Sweet and the Bitter
"This year's tour will combine the 'sweet' with the 'bitter'. A sweet ride through the Bitteroot Mountains of Idaho and Montana. The tour reprises the successful tour of 2004. It begins in Couer d'Alene, Idaho, heading to the south end of Lake Couer d'Alene to pick up the Trail of the Couer d'Alenes at Plummer. Crossing over the lake on an old railroad trestle, we will spend the first night at a lakeside park in downtown Harrison. The next day is almost entirely on the bike trail, wandering through marshes and along rivers until we reach that nights stay at a resort near Enaville. The third day will find us doing our highest climb, over Thompson Pass to Thompson Falls, Montana, where we will camp at the Rimrock Lodge. The remaining route takes us north on Highway 2 with one more night at a Forest Service campground, before continuing to Bonner's Ferry, Sandpoint and Priest River, Idaho. "
